A ceremony has taken place at Bohermore Cemetery in Galway to mark the 50th anniversary of a plane crash off the Connemara coast.

99 people were killed when a KLM flight from Amsterdam to New York crashed on 14 August 1958.

The aircraft had stopped to refuel at Shannon Airport and crashed shortly after it resumed its journey.

Only 34 of the 99 bodies were recovered.

Today's ceremony was organised by Galway City Council.
