Dublin has seen the biggest drop in house prices in Ireland, with the average second-hand house falling by 10.4% in the first three months of the year.

The price of a new house in the capital fell by 4.8% in the first three months of this year compared to last year, a Department of the Environment report says.

In Ireland overall, the cost of a new house has fallen by just over 3%.

Second-hand house prices have fallen by 5.4%.

Over 1,800 social houses have been built by the Department for Housing, and the total number of affordable houses has doubled to almost 1,000 for the first quarter.
