There have been further protests in Glengad in north Mayo as security staff and gardaí clashed with local opponents of the Corrib gas pipeline.
The confrontation took place on the beach where the controversial pipeline is planned to come ashore.
Local residents are trying to prevent the erection of fencing on the beach by the Corrib gas consortium and have called for a suspension of the work.
This morning they were involved in a series of scuffles as construction workers arrived on the site to resume the work, which has been going on for several day.
The demonstration is continuing but so far there have been no arrests.
The Corrib Gas consortium has said work is continuing at the site and it again re-iterated that it has all the necessary permits and consent for the work.
