Dublin Airport flights running 20 mins late

Dublin Airport - Travel plans disrupted for thousands of passengers

A number of flights at Dublin Airport are running around 20 minutes behind schedule due to the continued difficulties at air traffic control.

A small number of early morning flights were delayed by up to an hour. However, this afternoon most flights are taking off and arriving within 20 minutes of their scheduled times.

The Irish Aviation Authority says the airport is operating at 80% capacity.

However, it advises that there could be some delays at peak times.

Aer Lingus is asking passengers to check in as normal.

Ryanair is advising passengers to check its website for the latest information.

The arrival rate today has been increased from 16 aircraft arriving per hour to 20 per hour.

The authority, which has apologised for any inconvenience, says there is nothing to indicate that the problem will recur over the summer.

It is confident the system is stable and that engineers have identified the cause of the problem.

However, passengers have been warned that the radar system will not be fully operational again until next week, and there is a possibility of further delays and disruption.

Thousands of passengers have had their travel plans disrupted as a result of this week's problems with the system.

On Wednesday, hundreds of flights in and out of Dublin were seriously delayed or cancelled altogether.

Dublin Airport Authority has repeated its advice to passengers to contact their individual airline before coming to the airport.
