Three killed in separate road accidents

Two men and one child have died in separate road accidents this afternoon.

A 29-year-old male pedestrian was killed when he was struck by an articulated lorry at around 2.30pm near Ballinasloe, Co Galway.

Gardaí say the accident happened near Creagh on the N6.

The man's body is still at the scene and the road has been closed. Diversions are being put in place and motorists are being advised by the Gardaí to avoid Ballinasloe.

Separately, a four-year-old boy died when he fell from a tractor being driven by a family member in Abbeydorney, Co Kerry.

Gardaí are investigating the accident which occurred just before 1pm today.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was brought to Kerry General Hospital in Tralee where a post mortem examination will be carried out.

Meanwhile, gardaí in Trim are investigating a single vehicle fatal collision that occurred at 3.15pm on the Kilmessan to Dunsaney Road.

The deceased was a 46-year-old man who was the driver and sole occupant of a van.

He was removed to Navan General Hospital where death was pronounced.
