A 5.1 magnitude earthquake has rocked Tokyo, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
The quake struck at 4.49pm Tokyo time (8.49am Irish time), with its epicentre located off the Pacific coast some 170kms northeast of Tokyo.
Its focus was about 50kms below the seabed.
The quake was strong enough to briefly shake buildings in Tokyo.
