Fishermen meeting in Athlone have said that the Government has failed to deliver satisfactorily on its promises to help the fishing industry.
The group has threatened protests against the visit of the French President to Dublin.
After a meeting in Athlone this afternoon they said that the Government could respond by resolving Irish issues such as the criminalisation of fishermen without having to wait for the EU.
A statement after the meeting said that protests could be resumed if there was not an immediate Government response.
