The Federation of Irish Fishermen has met the the Sea Fisheries Protection Authority over allegations that its inspectors are harassing Irish fishermen.

It is also being accused of not treating foreign boats similarly and acting discourteously.

The State inspection agency issued a statement afterwards saying that it had agreed with the Federation that there was a need for a fresh start and the development of a positive relationship between it and the fishing industry.
