Acrobatics, hot air and political play acting are to feature in Leinster House later this month and the public is invited to take a closer look.
The Oireachtas is hosting a Family Day on Sunday 29 June when members of the public will be given the chance to enter the Dáil and Seanad chambers for the first time.
The day will feature a tumble circus, acting students performing famous political speeches, and a hot air balloon to commemorate one of Ireland's original balloon flights, which set off from Leinster lawn over 200 years ago.
Entry is free, although a ticket must be secured in advance through the website, www.oireachtasfamilyday.ie or by phoning the Locall number 1890 252 808.
Ceann Comhairle John O'Donoghue said the initiative was part of his campaign to connect people with politics and the work of politicians by opening up parliament to make it more attractive and welcoming for the public.
