Agreement has been reached between aircraft handlers and management at aircraft maintenance firm SR Technics, that will allow the company to immediately sign a new 10-year line maintenance contract with Aer Lingus.
The move will safeguard jobs at the company formerly known as Team Aer Lingus, which employs 1,200 people.
The deal follows a meeting between union representatives and 18 of the 20 aircraft handlers concerned this morning.
At it, the workers overwhelmingly backed proposals, which would see their issues of concern over work practice changes referred under existing working agreements to a third party for binding arbitration.
The proposals were worked out by union and worker representatives at a meeting last night.
It is understood that at this morning's meeting, the workers also raised the issue of the company's refusal to pay a 2.5% pay increase due under the national wage agreement, Towards 2016.
It is understood it was agreed that this issue will be dealt with through existing provisions in the national wage agreement itself.
Having received the backing of the workers, the union representatives then met management to communicate the proposals.
It is understood the terms were accepted by the company, which is now to contact Aer Lingus about signing the contract.
