The latest house price survey from Permanent TSB and the ESRI shows that house prices across the country fell by 1.1% last month.

This is the largest drop in a single month so far this year. The survey also found that house prices had fallen by over 9.2% since April 2007.

An average house was over €9300 cheaper in April than it would have been in December.

The biggest drop was for new homes, which fell 2% in March.

There was a slight increase in the price of the average three-bedroom semi-detached house.

These figures follow a report from the Central Bank this morning in which it said that growth in residential mortgages had fallen to its lowest level in 16 years.
