Staff at the aircraft maintenance firm, SR Technics, are to ballot by tomorrow on new proposals for more efficient work practices.
Aer Lingus has given the company a deadline of Sunday to sign a new contract which SR Technics - formally Team Aer Lingus - says is vital for its future.
The ballot follows talks at the Labour Relations Commission which finished early this morning
Aer Lingus has warned the firm that if it does not sign the final line maintenance contract by Sunday, the airline will withdraw and seek an alternative supplier for its line maintenance services.
In turn SR Technics has warned staff that if new work practices are not agreed by tomorrow, the Aer Lingus contract would not be viable and its 1,200 jobs will be in jeopardy from possible closure of the company.
Talks at the LRC chaired by Director of Conciliation Kevin Foley concluded at 3am this morning.
The outcome is a set of proposals on which unions will consult staff immediately. It is understood unions have undertaken to complete the consultation and ballot process by tomorrow evening.
