Labour Court - Talks on nurses dispute

The Labour Court is to hold separate meetings with nursing unions and the HSE Employers Agency over the coming weeks in a bid to resolve the current row over nurses' pay.

The nurses are seeking pay parity with other degree course health professionals, which would result in a pay increase worth around €6,000 a year for each nurse.

It is understood that today's talks focussed on looking at ways in which the current pay dispute could be addressed through restructuring in the health sector.

Further discussions will be held to try to identify a mechanism to move that process forward.

However, the HSE has insisted that any future pay rises will only be conceded when any changes or productivity deals had been fully implemented.
