25% of primary school principals have referred an allegation or made a disclosure of child abuse to the Health Service Executive.

The report from the Irish National Teachers' Organisation also indicates that just under 50% of primary teachers charged with reporting allegations of child abuse to the HSE had any training.

Of those who had received training, 70% found it to be inadequate.

The INTO has called on the Minister for Education to ensure that training is put in place as a matter of priority.
