The Labour Relations Commission has presented settlement proposals to all sides in the dispute involving 7,000 psychiatric nurses after more than ten hours of talks today.
The settlement proposals tabled provide for a big increase in the type of injuries covered and the level of awards.
There is also cover for post traumatic stress suffered by nurses who are assaulted and a system for dealing with historic injuries.
The Health Service Executive has accepted the proposals while the Psychiatric Nurses' Association and SIPTU will formally consider them at a meeting on Friday.
While the overtime ban by nurses, which has been in place for two weeks, remains in place until then the escalation of action has been called off.
