A couple from Co Derry, who allegedly got so drunk on holiday that they passed out leaving three young children to fend for themselves, have failed to appear in court in Portugal.
The husband and wife from Maghera were due to attend a hearing at the Family and Minors Court in Faro.
The British Foreign Office said it understood the family had left Portugal and had either returned home already or were en route.
It said there were no legal restrictions on them having to stay and no obligation for them to be in court.
