At least eight people have been killed in the US state of Arkansas after violent storms and tornados.
Other areas affected included Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Kansas. Around 24 people were injured and more than 300 homes damaged when at least 19 tornadoes ripped across the region.
In Siloam Springs, southern Arkansas, a 15-year-old girl was killed while sleeping when a tree fell on her room when the first wave of tornadoes struck at about 4.30am yesterday.
The storms damaged property, uprooted trees and blew out electric services to thousands of homes and businesses across the state.
This was the third wave of tornadoes to hit Arkansas this year. 13 people were killed in February and dozens injured in the north of the state.
Then in April several tornadoes touched down in central Arkansas, damaging hundreds of homes but causing no injuries.
