The man who died after an explosion at a chemical plant in Co Cork has been named as 58-year-old Liam Nodwell from Glanmire, Co Cork.
Mr Nodwell, a married man with one son, had worked at the Corden PharmaChem plant at Little Island since 1990.
Corden PharmaChem has issued a statement expressing its sympathy to Mr Nodwell's family.
The company says its concern is now focused on the health of a second employee who was critically injured in the explosion.
A third is in a stable condition in hospital.
The explosion happened at the Corden PharmaChem facility at around 1.25am this morning.
A number of investigations are under way to establish the cause of the explosion.
The Health and Safety Authority is conducting one of the investigations and confirmed that it issued two notices to the company restricting production in specific areas of the plant following two explosions there at the beginning of March.
Gardaí and the Environmental Protection Agency are also expected to conduct investigations.
Corden PharmaChem has been manufacturing active ingredients for the pharmaceutical industry since 1974 and employs 107 people.
The plant manufactures the bulk active ingredients for a number of drugs for the treatment of cancer, blood pressure and psychosis.
The company's emergency procedures were activated following the explosion.
Fire crews and ambulances were called to the scene and a number of workers were brought to Cork University Hospital.
Mr Nodwell died in hospital as a result of injuries he sustained in the incident.
Corden PharmaChem says it does not yet have specific information about what caused this morning's explosion or the damage it caused.
Six units of firefighters were called to the plant on 2 March to deal with an explosion and chemical spill caused by the over-pressurisation of a 200-litre drum. Five days later there was a similar explosion. There were no injuries during these incidents.
