A group of students from St Joseph's College in Lucan, Co Dublin, have reached the shortlist in a competition to depict practical science on video.
The Planet SciCast Awards, open to schools across Ireland and the UK, took place in London today.
This is the first year the Planet SciCast awards have been held. Science students and science teachers were both invited to make a short film of a science experiment.
And it is students from St Joseph's College who reached a short list of five, out of 90 entrants from the UK and Ireland in the physics category.
Their film explains how the central locking system in a car works.
In a recent survey, a majority of teachers said they consider practical science important, but that they lack the equipment and space for it.
All the films in this year's competition will be on www.planet-scicast.com. Entrants for next year are now being accepted.
