Investigations are under way into the cause of a fire that extensively damaged a five-storey hotel in north Co Dublin last night.
Guests and staff at he Bracken Court Hotel in Balbriggan were evacuated shortly after 11pm last night.
Eight units of Dublin Fire Brigade worked through the night to extinguish the blaze.
The hotel was full at the time and there were functions taking place in the conference rooms, including a 21st birthday party.
It is understood that the fire started on the fourth floor of the hotel and spread to the roof.
The hotel was evacuated quickly and some guests described seeing large flames coming through the roof, but no one was injured.
The blaze has now been brought under control but members of Dublin fire service remained at the scene this morning.
A spokesperson said that the damage is extensive and structural engineers from Fingal County Council are to assess the situation.
Gardaí do not believe the fire was started deliberately, but a garda technical team will carry out an investigation today to establish the cause of the fire.
