Two motorcyclists have been killed in separate collisions today in Co Tipperary and in Co Galway.

A 36-year-old man was fatally injured when his motorcycle was in a collision with a car on the N7 one mile west of Roscrea, Co Tipperary.

The crash happened at about 3.50pm.

The man was an off-duty Garda attached to Donnybrook Garda station. His body was taken to the Mid Western Regional Hospital Nenagh. A post mortem examination will be carried out tomorrow.

The sole occupant of the car was injured and taken to Nenagh hospital. Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Traffic from the east is diverting to Templemore, traffic from the west is diverted at Ballinakill into Roscrea.

In a separate colllision this afternoon, a man was killed at Curraghline Headford Road Galway.

The 40-year-old man was riding a motorcycle that collided with a car shortly after 3pm this afternoon. His body has been removed to University City Hospital Galway, where a post mortem examination will be carried out tomorrow.

The driver of the car was taken to University Hospital Galway. She is being treated for minor injuries.
