Water consumers in the Roundstone area of Co Galway have been warned to boil all tap water until further notice.
The order comes after traces of the parasite cryptosporidium were found in the water supply.
All water must be boiled before drinking, food preparation or brushing of teeth.
The boil notice applies to Roundstone, Errisbeg and Inishnee.
The council says it is working to improve the water supply and ensure the security of supply to local residents.
