The Minister for Enterprise, Trade & Employment has said it is a matter for the Taoiseach if he wishes to make a statement clarifying issues surrounding his Mahon Tribunal evidence.
But Micheál Martin says he believes the Taoiseach should use the forum of the tribunal and not speak outside of that forum.
Minister Martin said he had full confidence in Bertie Ahern's leadership and praised him for his role in the peace process, in economic development and in social partnership.
