There was a significant increase in the number of racist incidents in 2007.
Figures released by the National Consultative Committee on Racism record a total of 99 incidents during the year.
The committee said race crime was on the increase and needed to be addressed by authorities.
The Director of the Committee, Philip Watt, has said the increase in racist crime is reflected in garda figures also.
He said more has to be done and gardaí need to improve efforts to support the victims of racist crime.
The most likely victims of racist incidents are black African males, but people of Asian origin as well as members of the Travelling community also experience racism.
Internet racism is also growing with 15% of cases from July to December 2007 occurring on the internet.
Assaults, abuse and harassment and the circulation of offensive material are some of the incidents recording in recent months.
Complaints were received about racist comments posted on a website based in Ireland.
A complaint was also made arising out of an incident in Dundalk when a taxi operator was verbally abused by an Irish colleague on a taxi rank.
The committee has also published details of the circulation of offensive material in Dundalk with a sign 'KKK' posted in the area.
The Migrants Rights Centre in Dublin and other NGOs also complained that e-mails containing racist content had been received by them.
