There were delays on flights at Heathrow Airport in London after a security alert this afternoon.
The airport's north runway was closed causing delays to departing flights after a man with a rucksack ran into the path of an aircraft.
He has since been detained by armed police.
A controlled explosion has been carried out on the bag but no explosive devices were found.
Security staff spotted the man beside the northern runway shortly after 2pm this afternoon.
He had apparently scaled a perimeter fence and had run into the path of an aircraft waiting to take off.
He dumped the rucksack but was caught by armed police.
There was a security breach at Heathrow last month when Greenpeace protestors climbed onto an aircraft to oppose planned expansion of the airport.
Heathrow's southern runway remained in use during today's alert and the northern runway is also back in full use.
