Ned O'Keeffe has been readmitted to the Fianna Fáil parliamentary party.

Government Chief Whip Tom Kitt proposed that the party whip be restored to Deputy O'Keeffe at this evening's meeting of the Parliamentary Party.

Mr O'Keeffe resigned last November in a row over a motion on health policy.

He had previously missed a number of Dáil votes in controversial circumstances.

Mr Kitt told this evening's meeting that he had met Deputy O'Keeffe and re-iterated to him the responsibility attached to membership of the parliamentary party.

The Chief Whip said Deputy O'Keeffe was 'totally committed to the full disciplines of the party', and he looked forward to welcoming him back at next week's parliamentary party meeting.
