The number of people coming to live in Ireland is set to decline in the next four years, according Davy Stockbrokers.

Davy predicts that net migration will drop to 45,000 this year, almost half of what it was in 2007, and will drop to 20,000 by 2010.

The forecast also says that economic growth will be just 2% this year.

It predicts that the worst of the economic slowdown will be limited to this year, with the economy growing faster than the rest of Europe over the next four years.

Between now and 2011, they predict that the Irish economic growth will reach 3.5-4% annually.

It says investment in education, low tax on labour and comparatively healthy public finances put Ireland in a good position.

Davy says house prices fell 10% last year and are likely to do the same this year.

Some builders are already beginning to discount house prices significantly.
