Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny has said that the latest revelations in the Mahon Tribunal about the Taoiseach's finances have left the Government in paralysis.

Mr Kenny accused Mr Ahern of diminishing the Office of Taoiseach and degrading his own legacy.

He said that with the Taoiseach away next week, Fine Gael would be looking to Tánaiste Brian Cowen to step up to the line and clarify his position.

Mr Kenny said that he will question Mr Cowen in the Dáil on the issue of the Taoiseach's finances.

He added that if Fine Gael is not satisfied with the response it will explore other options, including a motion of no confidence in the Government.
