The new leader of the Progressive Democrats will be announced on 16 April.
The party's National Executive met last night and decided that nominations for the leadership would close on 5 March.
Both the party's Senators, Ciaran Cannon and Fiona O'Malley, have said they will seek the position, which is being held on an interim basis by Mary Harney.
