Alan Kelly - Prosecution rate 'unbelievable'
Alan Kelly - Prosecution rate 'unbelievable'

Labour Senator Alan Kelly has called for those who do not pay the minimum wage to be named and shamed.

Out of 296 detections for non payment of the minimum wage over the past two years, only one prosecution has been taken.

According to the Labour Inspectorate, there were 104 detections in 2006 and 192 in 2007.

Speaking on RTÉ Radio's News At One, Mr Kelly described this figure as 'quite unbelievable' and asked whether this was as a result of gaps in Irish legislation.
