More than 300 people could lose their jobs after a fire ripped through parts of London's famous Camden Market, owners said today.

The owners of the Canal Market complex said more than 300 people, stall owners and employees, now face an uncertain future.

But they added they are committed to rebuilding the devastated market.

As many as 100 firefighters tackled the blaze at its height last night, as thousands of revellers and shocked locals looked on.

The fire wrecked the market, shops and celebrity hangout The Hawley Arms pub , a favourite of singer Amy Winehouse and supermodel Kate Moss.

The fire raged for three hours, before London Fire Brigade brought it under control.

There are no reports of any injuries.

London Mayor, Ken Livingstone, said, 'Our thoughts are with those people affected by the fire in Camden Market, one of the most thriving markets in London, and of enormous importance for the economy of the local area and beyond.'

London Fire Brigade station manager Guy Foster said preliminary investigations were under way. He confirmed the first stage would be for investigators to interview eyewitnesses, before they were able to safely search the buildings.
