A 19-year-old youth arrested in connection with a crash involving a car that hit a house in Lisburn yesterday has been released on bail, pending further enquiries.

Severe structural damage was caused when a black Ford Focus smashed through a garden wall and ran into the gable wall of the house.

The car then went on fire. An elderly couple in their 70s who were sleeping inside the house at Laurel Hill Road were unhurt, but badly shaken.

Structural engineers have been asessing the damage and the house may have to be demolished.

The PSNI is appealing for witnesses in an attempt to identify the owner or occupants of the vechicle.
