Eighteen people are now dead following a train crash in China on Wednesday.
A high-speed train from Beijing to the coastal city of Qingdao struck a group of line maintenance workers as they walked along the track near the city of Anqiu in Shandong province.
In what was China's worst railway accident in years, the workers were on their way to build new tracks near Anqiu when the accident occurred.
But they had arrived on the site 20 minutes ahead of schedule, when passing trains were still running at up to 120km/h rather than the 45km/h maximum for passing through areas under maintenance.
State television said the workers had forcibly entered the railway perimeter.
The stretch of railway line is in a rural area far from stations.
No passengers on the train were killed or injured.
A spokesperson for the Railway Ministry did not explain why it took two days for the news to come to light.
Trains are packed in China as people head to their home provinces for the New Year holiday which starts on 7 February.
