A property belonging to solicitor Michael Lynn has been sold at auction for €4.9m.
The guide price for Glenlion House, Howth, Co Dublin was €4.5m.
Mr Lynn bought it less than a year ago for a sum thought to be about €5m.
Located on a seafront site, the house was built in the 1950s and is in need of refurbishment.
Glenlion House is described as a 'substantial detached marine residence' situated on the southern slopes of the Baily in Howth, with clear views of Dublin Bay.
Thomas Day, who conducted the auction, said it would be an 'ideal trophy home' and noted that this type of seafront property rarely comes on the market.
The auction, which was held at Lisney's headquarters on Dublin's St Stephen's Green started out slowly.
No one bid the guide price, but eventually one interested party opened with €3.5m.
The property sold in less than ten minutes.
Receiver for the court Rory O'Farrell said he was pleased with the result.
The property was successfully bid for by a solicitor acting on behalf of an unidentified client.
