An Aer Arann flight from Donegal to Dublin was diverted this morning to City of Derry Airport shortly after taking off from Carrickfinn.

Soon after the 9.50am flight took off, the crew reported a technical fault with an engine.

The twin engine turboprop plane landed safely and the 36 passengers and three crew members left the aircraft without incident.

Fire and ambulance crews attended the scene.

City of Derry Airport and Aer Arann made arrangements to transport the passengers from flight RE202 to Dublin.

The aircraft will remain at City of Derry Airport until the fault is repaired.
