Labour Party leader Eamon Gilmore has again called on Taoiseach Bertie Ahern to resign.
He was speaking at the opening of the party's national executive committee meeting in Waterford.
Mr Gilmore said the Government was no longer able to concentrate on the country's problems because of the controversy over Bertie Ahern's personal finances.
Last week on RTÉ Radio's This Week, Mr Gilmore said he did not believe Mr Ahern's explanation to the Mahon Tribunal.
He said he believes Fianna Fáil members who supported Bertie Ahern in last September's vote of confidence will move to shaft him when they conclude he is a liability as leader, just as Fianna Fáil shafted Albert Reynolds, Charles Haughey and Jack Lynch.
