A revised road operation at the Red Cow interchange in Dublin has come into effect.

New lanes and bridge links were opened to traffic at 8am this morning.

Motorists are advised to familiarise themselves with the upgraded network.

South Dublin County Council is asking drivers to exercise care when using the new routes.

A total of five lanes now service the N7 eastbound end of the interchange - for M50 northbound, southbound, city (two lanes) and Luas park and ride respectively.

Traffic from Monastery Road will no longer access the N7 to the city via Monastery Lane, which is closed to inbound traffic. Instead a new overbridge link will join with the main inbound traffic on the far side of the M50.

The bridge also links Monastery Road traffic with M50 southbound. M50 northbound traffic from Monastery Road will have to travel southbound on the M50 and make a u-turn at Ballymount until a new sliproad is completed.
