Ireland may be a country famed for its wild bogs, but Irish beauticians using turf as a new skin-care treatment are being forced to import peat from overseas.

Beauty consultants offering the ground-breaking therapy say it is increasingly popular here but they are being forced to import peat-wraps from Finland until a homegrown variety can be devised.

The concept of bog baths was pioneered more than a century ago in central Europe.

Its resurgence follows rave reviews for seaweed skin treatments.
