Kenyan election officials have called a halt to vote tallies, leaving the result of a cliff-hanger presidential vote in the balance.
Electoral Commission of Kenya officials said there would be further tallies tomorrow.
With 86% of constituency results in, President Mwai Kibaki and opposition leader Raila Odinga were neck-and-neck.
This afternoon results showed opposition leader Raila Odinga just ahead of President Mwai Kibaki with about a fifth of results left to come in.
Both sides have claimed victory and accusations of vote rigging have sparked violence across the country
Most of the trouble was between Luo supporters of Mr Odinga and members of Mr Kibaki's Kikuyu ethnic group, which have a long history of rivalry.
While nearly all ballots for the legislative elections also held on Thursday have been counted, some key provinces were still not yielding presidential results.
Mr Odinga's ODM party had repeatedly accused the government before and during the elections of planning to rig the ballot, but today it has appealed for calm.
Polling day was described by several international observers teams, notably from the US and EU, as relatively orderly and generally positive.
Two people were killed in separate incidents on Thursday and another was shot dead in a polling station during the tallying process yesterday.
