Cathal Ryan, son of the late Ryanair founder Tony Ryan, has passed away following a short illness.
The 48-year-old was one of the original founders and first pilots with the airline.
Paying tribute to Mr Ryan this evening, Ryanair Chief Executive Michael O'Leary said his vision, expertise and dedication to aircraft safety was pivotal to the development of the company.
