A woman has been killed following a hit-and-run collision near Enniskerry, Co Wicklow.
A 79-year-old woman was killed after being struck by a vehicle that failed to stop at the scene in Killeager, The Scalp.
The accident happened shortly after 5pm this evening.
A 33-year-old man was later arrested in connection with the incident and he is being detained at Shankill Garda Station.
Gardaí are appealing for any people who were in the Killeager area this evening to contact Shankill Garda station on 01-666-5900.
