An Iraqi government spokesman said that Iraqi security forces had arrested 43 people, including two Americans and 31 other foreigners, over a shooting in which a woman was wounded in central Baghdad.
They would appear before an investigating judge in Baghdad on tomorrow.
A government spokesperson said a convoy of workers being escorted by guards working for an Iraqi-registered security company was travelling through Baghdad's Karrada district on their way to the airport when they opened fire at civilians, wounding the woman.
Foreign security guards have been under the spotlight in Iraq since 17 Iraqis were killed in a shooting involving U.S. firm Blackwater in September.
Separately, at least six people have been killed after a rocket struck a house near Iraq's southern port city of Basra.
Three children, one woman and two men were killed in the attack, which took place in the town of al-Qibla, west of Basra.
British troops tasked with security for the area have withdrawn from Basra city and plan to hand over the province to Iraqi troops in December.
