The bodies of at least 30 people have been found in Baghdad, according to police and government officials.
An 'Awakening Council' of local leaders, which oversees neighbourhood policing, discovered at least 30 decomposing bodies in Dora in southern Baghdad, an Interior Ministry official said.
The neighbourhood of Dora has been a stronghold of Sunni militants.
The bodies, which included at least three women and four children, were found in several locations in and around houses.
Earlier this month, Iraqi soldiers found at least 30 bodies of men and women in two mass graves in northwest Baghdad.
