No days lost to industrial disputes

There were no working days lost to industrial disputes in the third quarter of this year.

This is the first time that no days have been lost in a quarter since records began in 1985.

Figures released today by the Central Statistics Office show that there were 2,097 days lost to disputes from the start of 2006 through to the end of September.

That represents a huge reduction from the 6,262 days that were lost in the same period last year.

There were three disputes that either began or were in progress in the first three quarters of 2007, with the manufacturing sector accounting for just over 57% of the total.
