Train delay - Irish Rail apologised for seven hour journey

Irish Rail has apologised to passengers whose train journey from Sligo to Dublin yesterday took more than seven hours because of engine failure.

The train which left Connolly Station at 5.05pm yesterday was due to have arrived in Sligo at 8.10pm but did not reach its destination until 12.20am.

Some of the 130 passengers on board last night complained about the lack of catering facilities and support services for a large number of elderly people on the train.
