A bomb planted by Taliban rebels killed four policemen in Afghanistan today while various security operations against insurgents left around 60 militants dead.

The policemen were driving in the southeastern province of  Ghazni when a bomb ripped through their vehicle, provincial police commander Alishah Ahmadzai confirmed.

A spokesman for the Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.

The interior ministry announced that police working with international soldiers had killed 25 Taliban members yesterday in an operation in the province of Uruzgan.
