A spokesman for Minister of State Jimmy Devins has described today's meeting with the 24/7 Suicide Action Group as 'extremely informative'.

The recently-formed Wexford based group wants a locally based 24-hour psychiatrist and social worker service to be set up to help those at risk of suicide.

It says those at risk are more likely to seek help if it is offered in their own community.

The Minister of State has asked the National Office for Suicide Prevention to meet the group.
