Aer Lingus to increase fuel surcharges

Aer Lingus has said it is to increase its long-haul fuel surcharge from 1 November.

The airline says this is as a result of recent trends in the price of oil, which this morning hit $91 in Asian trade.

The fuel surcharge will apply to long haul flights to and from Ireland at the following rates.

New York, Boston and Washington - €50 each way.
Chicago, Orlando and Dubai - €55 each way.
Los Angeles and San Francisco - €65 each way.

Enda Corneille, Aer Lingus' Commercial Director, said the airline said last May that it would keep surcharges under review to reflect changes in the price of fuel.

He said today's decision to increase the charge was consistent with that strategy.

He said Aer Lingus remains committed to reviewing levels of surcharge in line with current market trends.
