In the region of 5,000 people have taken part in a protest in Ennis in Co Clare over cutbacks at Ennis General Hospital.
The protest was organised by Clare Cancer Concern and The Ennis General Hospital Development Committee.
The Chairman of the committee, Peadar McNamara, said the protest was part of their campaign to fight the loss of 24-hour A&E services at Ennis hospital and cutbacks in breast cancer facilities.
Mr McNamara said further protests were likely to be held to highlight the issue.
