The two 17-year-old men who were killed in an early morning road accident in Co Roscommon have been named.

They were Padraic McHugh from Rockfield and Kieran Kelly from Rathbrennan.

The deaths bring to four the number of people who have lost their lives on Irish roads since yesterday evening.

This morning's crash happened 3km outside the town at Bohergarve on the Boyle road.

The car left the road and went into a field at around 2am.

According to gardaí, the two men who died were back seat passengers.

Two other 17-year-olds who were in the front of the car remain in a critical condition in Roscommon General Hospital.

The Roscommon to Boyle Road has now reopened on the Roscommon side of Four Mile House and all diversions have now been lifted.

Separately, two men died in road accidents in Dublin and Co Westmeath yesterday evening.

A man in his 60s died after his car left the road and crashed near Killucan, Co Westmeath.

And in west Dublin, a man in his 40s died when his motorcycle hit an exit barrier in Clondalkin.
